Two Interesting things

It is always good time when i am with Abhinav. He is real thought provoker and makes me take good initiatives. 

1. Go-Green Initiative 

Last Sunday, Myself and Abhinav went to Anjappar Resturant , Porur, Chennai for getting the Carrier Meals parcel. While starting from home, Abhinav reminded me to take utensils and Cloth bag. I used to tell him whenever he goes to nearest shops in order to avoid polythene bags. So we went with full utensils. We billed for Full career meals in cash section ( Rs 180). Cashier did not entertain to answer the query for filling all the gravy in utensils.  But the parcel carrying person rejected my request and went to Cashier again. Both refused to accept the option. They were adamant on giving all food items in container and polythene bags. 

Abhinav lost his patience and he started pushing me to go home. I escalated to Restaurant manager and he has a kind heart to agree to give food in utensils. In fact, he is so friendly enough. Even you want to Go-Green, Surroundings are note helping. 

People attitude has to change. Otherwise, nobody cant save Mother Earth.

2. Reflection

We used to get sunlight in our living room in the month of Feb, March only because of location of adjacent buildings. Today i was explaning the reflection by using the sunlight while Abhinav was having his breakfast. 

Object color defines the reflected light color. Suppose object is red in color which means sunlight (whitelight) reflected by that red object which keeps red light and reflects remaining color. Abhinav was quick enough to ask me " If reflected light falls on another red object, What would be color of the object because reflected light does not have red at all".

I said quickly "I dont have any answers for this question. Pl eat and go School. "

Abhinav hand has good set of skills and magic. Below Rose drawn by him. Borderline and coloring were done by him. He used Google to get the picture and tried to draw as per the picture.

Abhinav's First Share

Relationship between Share market and Hot wheels.

Today's morning conversation between me and Abhinav which happened when we were riding on bike.

Abhinav: Daddy, are there any shares around Rs 200. 

Me:          Why are you asking? Yes , plenty of shares are there below 200

Abhinav: I have pocket money of Rs 200 and I want to spend by buying share.

Me:          Very good.

Abhinav: Pl get all documents and details of shares. Let me select.

Me:          Omg. Documents !!!

Abhinav: Is Hot wheels share available?

Me:          No. Evening we will select your first share.

Me and Priya was very proud of his thought process. 

My Mom just quoted Tamil Proverb " Thai 8 adi pancha, kutti 16 adi payum!! "

One of the wedding invitation has Lord Vinayaga picture and I asked Abhi to draw. He agreed and He drew a really very good that too very fast. He has knack of drawing skills and i need to support him with proper tools and coaching.

Spellbee International

This time Abhinav shown interest to participate in Spell Bee International though he dont like English much ( basically his 90% interest in Science and Maths only). But He want to see how the exam would be? We enrolled for the Inter-School level and exam happened last Month. Totally he would have spend 10 hours in preparation in which he gave more time for GK rather than English. 

Yesterday His Teacher announced him as School Topper in his Grade. That means there are 12 section in Class 2. Each class has average of 35 students, out of which 10-12 students might be participated from his school. So it would be 150 students participation in Class 2 and Abhinav scored Topper and he is eligible to participate in State / Regional level competition. The cost of conducting Spell bee exam is Rs 400 plus for entry level and Rs 450 for next level. it is very very expensive relative to IMO (Olympiad exam is Rs 110). Spell bee management needs to consider this.

IMO - International Mathematics Olympiad - 2016

Last year Abhinav participated IMO - 2015 and won Gold Medal & Fantastic ranking. Last year preparation was like less than one week because of Chennai Floods.

What is the State of Electron ?

Abhinav is preparing for NSO exam. I find NSO questions are very tough for his age and Why they are farming such a difficult things. at the age of 6, their brain itself is under development with lot of inputs from surroundings and self learning. Me and Priya got stuck for few questions and referred Google for the right answers. The another problem is lack of Science vocabulary which is slowing down the Abhinav pace. I have to blame NSO for their rush and more loading to Children. 

For some explanation, Abhinva paused me and asked below questions.

What is the state of Electron?

What  makes up Electron?

I was really shocked because i never crossed these questions in my life and i found his question is very fundamental and i even dont know it. I felt very shame. 

Google gave me few answers which i cant explain easily to Abhinav because it will become base for many questions. But i will try to tell him in easy way.

• Electron is subatomic & elementary particle which behave as particle and wave
•  "State" is not applicable to Subatomic particle
• A thermodynamic state (such as solid,liquid or gas)  is determined by combined statistical interaction of many particles. Individual Particle does not have well defined properties even the Temperature. Only collection of particles can have properties 
• A state is a property of the way the atoms are arranged, and a single electron cannot be arranged.
• Nobody knows what makes up electron

Connecting the Dots

Abhinav is Fast thinker in connecting Dots across many events. I wonder how he remembers all the things and connects it. His neurons are at work faster than normal ( I guess :))

Event 1:

Last month We all watched Age of Adaline. It was nice Sci-fi and Fantasy Movie but bit slow screenplay. Abhinav got a glimpse of story and he wondered " How it is possible to stay young after lightning strike?". But we convinced him that it is just a fantasy movie; So there wont be any proof of existence. 

Three days before, when Abhinav Sneezed, Priya Said " theerkaaisu" ( தீர்க்கஆயிசு - தீர்க்கஆயிள்) for first sneeze, then "Markendaaisu" (மார்க்கெண்டஆயிசு). During Sneezing, Heart is stopped for a moment from its beating; People say " god bless you" in western countries. In Tamilnadu, it is used to say "Muruga" in most of the places and "தீர்க்கஆயிசு & மார்க்கெண்டஆயிசு" in certain places. Abhinav asked the story of Markendaya and Priya Explained the story of Markendaya. 

Abhinav quickly correlated Sage Markendaya and Age of Adaline. 

Event 2:

I used to take stories from Tamil Hindu website and share with Abhinav as a bed time stories.

I told one such a story about Squirrel a month before. Moral of the story is to learn the good things from parent and obedience with parent.

Yesterday, After our play time at association ground, we were walking towards our house. We were discussing about obedience and the consequences if we dont follow it. It was very casual talk and Priya was insisting to follow Parent, Teacher...etc.

Abhinav quickly correlated Squirrel story with yesterday's talk. Even I forgot about the story I shared. He told that I knew the consequences of obedience failure. Dont worry, Iwont be that squirrel. 

It is amazing to see the correlation effect in children. 

Out of the Book Thinking by Abhinav

Abhinav is such a boy that he always think out of textbook and get low marks. We were happy that he is not part of herd. He proved in many occasions at home. But the problem is " he started showing in exams too".

Occasion 1:

Write words as per Pictures. One Woman who is physically fit and one Man who is physically unfit.

Abhinav answer:    We need a House to Live

Madam gave wrong answer. Another friend of Abhinav wrote " We need a house to stay" which also termed as wrong answer.

Occasion 3:

Write Opposite words

Madam gave wrong answer and asked strictly to follow textbook answer. 

Actually "Unlike" also right answer of opposite of "Like" provided Like is considered as preposition word. if you consider as verb, then "dislike" is right answer.

Actually "Big" also right answer of opposite of "Little". 

Certain School teachers are stopping the Students innovative mind. Actually they need to appreciate and encourage for "Out of Box thinking"

Did the God tell you?

Last week we travelled to Bangalore. Each one enjoyed with their sibilings ( rightly pointed by my Brother). I had lighter moments with my Brother, Priya had lighter moments with Ramya, Abhinav had double moments with Danush and Diya. It is good to see Kids enjoyment with their siblings. Due to Rain and traffic, our plan for side trip was sidelined. 

During Return, We were travelling in bus. As usual, Abhinab and Priya took nap. After the Nap, Abhinav started asking question which he was thinking or seeing outside the window. He saw one church and the conversation as follows.

Abhinav: Is it right to pray Jesus?

Me: Yes. we can pray.

Abhinav: Whether Christian can pray our Gods?

Me:  Yes. they can pray our Gods.

Abhinav: Whether Muslims can pray our Gods ? Whether can we pray Allah?

Me: I said, we all can pray any Gods. All Gods teach only one thing. They all say "Love everyone, Help everyone, True to everyone". 

Abhinav: Did god tell in your ears? That too all God tell you the same?

Me: I said with smile. God never talk to anybody. But there are Holy books for each God. In holy books, it is written as i said previously.

Abhinav still not convinced How Holy Books arrived, How Gods got power? Why so many Gods? Somehow i gave my answer to best of my knowledge.

Can anybody has better answer? Pl help.

Let me beat Usain Bolt not Michael Phelps

I was discussing with Abhinav about India's Medal in Rio Olympics 2016. I expressed my concern of just two medals from the 1.252 billion population whereas USA got 121 medals from 316 million population. 

I also shared with Abhinav that " If you are interested, I will arrange for proper swimming training with competitive mode". Because in Olympics, you can easily get more medals from swimming category. Also, You are well-trained in Swimming which you also love to do. It will help you to participate in competition. As an example, I said Michael Phelps got 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal in Rio Olympics Swimming. On total, he has 23 medals across all Olympics.

Abhinav said to me very quickly that "Let me beat Usian Bolt not Michael Phelps" daddy. I am very much interested in running that swimming. Let me touch 100 meters in 2 seconds.

I was so happy that he did note my conversation with Priya and he grabs the note of "Fastest man in the world is Usain Bolt". Though 2 seconds is very much impractical and unrealistic, Me and Priya expressed our happiness and proud moment in our eyes. 

Abhinav's Dance Performance

L&T Construction Recreation club arranged kids singing and dancing competition last saturday. Abhinav performed his Maiden Dance at the Stage for "why this kolaveri?" song. Though his  hip did not help him much but his expressions and fast movement scored  us. With proper training he can dance well because he replicated without any hitch and gap. He is such an Amazing Kid. He did deliver this dance with two days of practice. Rakshan was quiet most of the time after performance but he appreciated Abhinav for his face expression and sing along with Dance.

Vijay TV fame KPY Anchor Mr. Rakshan joined us for making this event a great one. His Speech delivery and making fun out of time is silver lining of the event. People were asking him about " where is Jacquline ( co-anchor of KPY)?" and took selfie with him with murmurs of " He is next Siva Karthikeyan".

PS: Abhinav was ready to sing " Kabali - Nerrupu da song". Due to time limitations, he was not given chance by organizer.

Divinely Questions

When i was showing Dasavatharam sculptures in Mangadu Temple, He was asking about all avatars and i briefed him in two lines.

• He asked about  Varaha avatar?

I said that  Lord Vishnu's third avatar  who rescued Earth (Bhooma Devi) from Demon.

Demon Hiranyaksha Stole the Earth and hid in Ocean. God Vishnu appeared as Lord Varaha who is in the form of Boar. Lord Varaha slwe the demon and reterived Earth and Lifted her in his tusks and restored Bhooma Devi in her place in Universe.

Abhinav quickly asked me, where Demon hid the Earth? where the Fight between Lord varaha and Demon happened?

if it is not in Earth, then Where?

That means, We have water in Universe other than Earth !!!!!

Abhinav made interesting question. 

• He asked about Kalaki Avatar?

I said that Kalki avatar is tenth avatar of God vishnu and he will appear at the end of Kali Yuga. He rides on White Horse with Sword.

Abhinav asked me, Whether horse will not extinct till the end of Kali Yuga? 

I said " I don't know and God has all the powers to make/destroy".

Abhinav is not convinced about Last Avatar and details i gave. 

(It is true because i am also having limited memory on the subject)

Relation between Alcohol and Alchemist

Movies and TV Serials are carrying "warning" messages against Liquor drinking and Smoking. Actually it is good idea to have it (misusing by giving in small font, such a way it will be unnoticed). It provides awareness to all non drinkers, non smokers and warning bell to smokers and drinkers.

Abhinav knew that Smoking damages lungs and it even kills it by giving Cancer, TB....such a dangerous diseases. But he started asking " What they are drinking?". the conversations as goes below.

Abhinav:  What they are drinking ? 

Me: They are drinking  "Cool Drinks".

Abhinav: Then, why they are showing warning messages?

Me: It is Alcohol, not an ordinary cool drinks. Alcohol drinking is dangerous to Health.

Abhinav: What will happen?

Me: It spoils Liver and Kidney. People will die if both parts failed.

Abhinav: How they are making alcohol?

Me: They are making from Fruits, some Cereals / Grains...etc.

Abhinav: Those are good for Human. How it becomes Alcohol?

Me: They keep those and let it rot over a time ( I assumed that he may not understand fermentation process). Then it becomes Alcohol.

Abhinav: I knew it  Daddy....Because in Alchemist app, Fruits + Time is called Alcohol. 

He seems convinced that "Alcohol is dangerous for health".

Swimming

As a Parent, we planned to give extra curricular activities to Abhinav but not before the Age of 5. It would be stress to him both physically and mentally. Thus, we decided to give all coaching class after his 5th Birthday. We also decided that “No more study oriented courses” because he is already spending most of his time in school. As per all this conditions and his wish list, we put him in Swimming Academy. It happened that Academy also newly started in our area.

It was a Yearly membership (Rs 6000) which includes coaching of all styles and Daily access to Pool except holidays. Abhinav was little fearful in first 5 days and he started enjoying with Pool ring and also 3 feet depth pool side. But it was short-lived; coach put him without ring and in 7 feet depth and he started getting his fear factor and he used to cry through out training session. Almost it happened for 2 months.

During that time, we skipped few classes due to his wish and our unplanned things. Chennai Flood also accounted 2 month break in his swimming class.But he started enjoying his swimming after few days of particular stroke. Abhinav is fast learner and he is good teacher too.

He learnt Breast Stroke, Free Style, Back Stroke and Butterfly stroke. Now he is not even coming out of pool and he make us wait every week. Abhinav also has reservations on certain coach. He likes Naveen Master most, he dislikes Siva Master most. But almost all coaches are friendly.

Abhinav shown his swimming skills in two places viz. Souparnika river, Mookambikai Temple and Kumbakarai Falls. He swam without any hesitation and he displayed his fearless swimming strokes.

What is the Difference Between Tortoise and Turtle?

Last weekend, we went to Guindy National Park. This park is one of the Abhinav Favorites and he loved going many times. This time we went with my Brother's family too. My brother's son Danush aged 1 year is very much interested to see all animals especially Peacocks. Abhinav started asking his questions. Park placed sign boards in English and Tamil, so i was happy enough to tell him all the facts. But there was no sign board for Jackal and Tortoise.

2. What is the difference between Tortoise and Turtle?

Finally Google helped me to translate Jackal means " குள்ளநரி"

Tortoise: Mostly Land Living and Live very longer. Its Shell is very hard

Turtle: Mostly Water Living and Live shorter than tortoise. Its shell is very light weight. Legs are web type for Swimming preference.

Abhinav's Drawing

Abhinav Loves to draw. During KG time, he likes to do coloring and now he improved a lot. We are planning to send him for Drawing class to improve his drawing skills which he wanted most. We don't want to load him with lot of classes for skill improvement. He priorities that he wanted skating first.
